- PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Merciful Lord, we confess that with us there is an abundance of sin, but in you there is the fullness of righteousness and abundance of mercy. We are spiritually poor, but you are rich and in Jesus Christ came to be merciful to the poor. Strengthen our faith and trust in you. We are empty vessels that need to be filled; fill us. We are weak in faith; strengthen us. We are cold in love; warm us, and make our hearts fervent for you that our love may go out to one another and to our neighbors. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. ANNOUNCEMENTS
- LAUP SUMMER CAMP FOR KIDS
We are excited to announce that our Summer Camp, planned by FOL staff and led by InterVarsity’s Los Angeles Urban Project (LAUP) college student interns, will be held at Westside Christian Church, for four weeks of Bible lessons, games, songs & dance, reading practice, arts & crafts and snacks! Camp will begin on June 30 and end on July 25 from 9am-12pm. Kids who finished 2nd grade to leaving 5th grade are welcome to attend. The camp cost is $20 per week to offset expenses. HERE is the camp flyer.
One of the ways that we welcome FOL’s support and opportunity to connect with families participating in the camp is through volunteering! Some of the volunteer roles may include: Station/Activity Support including reading support, teaching Bible lessons, crafts, or games, helping to be the snack shopper, helping to register and check-in children. If you would like to offer your time in this way, please sign-up HERE. - SUMMER MISSIONAL DISCUSSION GROUP
This summer we invite you into a missional discussion group, where Pastor Kim will lead us through Timothy Keller's book, "Gospel in Life: Grace Changes Everything." Keller’s materials provide us with a great 11-13 minute video and small group discussion prompts along with a personal reflection guide. In Keller’s words, “Throughout this eight-week ascent—from earthly work to the final revelation of grace—you’ll learn how the gospel can change your heart, your community, and how you can live as a disciple of Jesus Christ in this world, right now, even as you look forward to the promise we have in him. Discover how grace really does change everything.” The meetings will be on Thursdays, July 10 to August 28 at 7pm, at the Morrison home. If you would like to be a part of this Summer Missional Discussion Group, you may register HERE. - HOPE FOR THE JOURNEY
The Care Ministry of FOL is offering a second presentation of five powerful, highly practical teaching sessions designed to meet the unique, sometimes complex needs of children and teens, particularly those impacted by adoption and/or foster care. All members of our church who are parents or guardians or care for children either in their vocation or in ministry at FOL are invited to attend these zoom sessions on Sundays at 7:30pm facilitated by Pastor Kim, beginning June 22 - July 27 (no session on 4th of July weekend).
WHO IS INVITED: Anyone who works with youth and children in our church or in their vocation as well as anyone who is a parent or guardian.
Please check out the slack channel #hope-for-the-journey for zoom information for these sessions. - DADS & KIDS PARK DAY
On Saturday June 14th from 11am-1pm, join us for Dads and Kids play time at Silverado Park! We'll provide several games and lunch (a make-your-own sandwich station, with a few different options). You can bring yourself, some snacks or shareable picnic-style foods, and/or any games/sports gear you like! Again, this is for dads, uncles, brothers, or any other way you could define a father figure. Hope to see you there! Click HERE to see the event flyer. - FOL ANNUAL MEETING SAVE THE DATE
We really hope you can make it to celebrate this past year and look forward to the next at our Annual Meeting on June 28. It will be at Grace Church from 5-8PM. We also will be voting on that day to approve the budget for the next fiscal year. If there are other voting items, we will let you know by June 15. Thanks! Also, there will be two Zoom meetings in the coming weeks for a deeper dive into the budget. This coming Tuesday, June 10 will be "Nitty Gritty Meeting" to share the draft budget with the congregation for review. Then on June 17 the final, proposed budget will be shared and clarified, also on Zoom. Both of these meetings will begin at 7PM. Check Slack for a Zoom link on the day of the meeting. Click HERE to see the event flyer. - PASTORAL PRAYER
Pastor Kim would love to be able to pray for you. If you have any prayer concerns please let her know by entering your request on this form. You do not need to share your identity - it can be completely confidential if this is your preference. One the primary roles of your pastor, or of any spiritual leader, is to carry you on their heart and to therefore carry you into the presence of God as they pray for you. - TITHES AND OFFERINGS
You may give online (folcov.org/give) or place your offering in the wooden box to the right of the stage.
