At a recent pastoral gathering, a facilitator asked a circle of pastors what was the biggest block to effective evangelism. One pastor said it was people who claim to be a part of the church, but act as though God was not real, or asleep, six days a week. The young pastor asked the group what they do to insure members of the church actually follow Jesus. Three pastors laughed. That is not what God intends.

Membership matters at Fountain of Life. We want membership in the local church to be a great honor and a worthwhile life goal. We want the “jersey on your back” to mean something. Therefore, we will call a new generation of disciples to meaningful, transformational and joyful membership in the local church.

Here is the membership process of Fountain of Life Covenant Church. The membership candidate will complete four Membership Matters classes offered by the church. Each candidate will then have a 45-minute interview with one of the church pastors. They will be asked to recount their conversion, identify their spiritual gifts and explain why they wish to be part of the church and highlight any struggles in representing the Kingdom as a member of the church.

Membership classes and candidacy will be offered quarterly throughout the calendar year. Our first membership class will be offered in Spring 2007.
