Friends & Families,

We are in the midst of Passion Week. What a glorious time to journey together with each other and with Christ as he moves toward the cross.
On Friday we will have a service of remembrance and reflection on the Cross work of Christ. The service is titled "Love's Story."
Please bring children and friends - there will be the opportunity to take part in various activities: communion as families and friends, washing hands with Pilate, tearing the veil, and pinning our sins to the cross.
Don't miss out on this time to honor Jesus - our Suffering Savior!

The service will begin at 7pm at Long Beach Church (3707 Atlantic Ave, corner of Atlantic & 37th Street - parking entrance is on 37th Street).

We want to be culturally responsive to the unfolding needs of the Westside community. What does it mean to be a neighborhood supporting church? What does it mean to flourish as we respond well to the inter-sectional culture of the Westside? What is our part in partnering with the Westside in her flourishing?    We live and move and share our faith in a wildly varied mosaic of ethnicities and cultures. This makes our relationships and communication so very fascinating…. and also complex! The Community Inclusion team would like to invite you to an interactive seminar called Navigating the Invisible: 3 Worldviews, coming up on Saturday February 21st, from 9-11 a.m., at Long Beach Church on 37th and Atlantic. With a self assessment, short presentation on 3 types of worldviews, and interactive practice, you will learn to understand yourself and others with respect to worldview drivers, and you’ll leave with some tools to navigate intercultural situations. Come with an open heart and mind, and please share a bagel and coffee breakfast with us! And bring kids; childcare will be available on site. Dear FOL,

It is with great joy that our little community of faith joins with the Christian church around the world to participate in the season of Lent. Lent is a season of intentional reflection and spiritual renewal for the Christian church, inviting believers to unite in repentance, prayer, and preparation for the celebration of Easter. It centers on themes of humility, self-denial, faithful fasting, and a renewed commitment to follow Christ amid suffering and sacrifice. Through Scripture, fasting, alms giving, and penitence, Lent fosters deeper discipleship, repentance from sin, and anticipation of God’s grace revealed in the crucifixion and resurrection.

We have prepared a daily reflection for each day of Lent, including Sundays. It is our hope and prayer that these can become a meaningful part of your daily journey through Lent.

This year our Daily Lent Reflections publication features drawings by children associated with our Crosswalk ministry, and is available in Spanish.

   We would love your input! FOL is participating in a survey to help us better understand the health of our church. 3. COMMUNITY INCLUSION SEMINAR
   We live and move and share our faith in a wildly varied mosaic of ethnicities and cultures. This makes our relationships and communication so very fascinating…. and also complex! The Community Inclusion team would like to invite you to an interactive seminar called Navigating the Invisible: 3 Worldviews, coming up on Saturday February 21st, from 9-11 a.m., at Long Beach Church on 37th and Atlantic. With a self assessment, short presentation on 3 types of worldviews, and interactive practice, you will learn to understand yourself and others with respect to worldview drivers, and you’ll leave with some tools to navigate intercultural situations. Come with an open heart and mind, and please share a bagel and coffee breakfast with us! And bring kids; childcare will be available on site. It invites and guides you into how to wrestle with God over your own heartaches and disappointments and find peace in the process.  This material is available as a google document.
