Look Up
As I drove south on Santa Fe Avenue, the news droned on in the background and my mind settled on some nameless anxiety. Suddenly, a single jacaranda flower twirled down from a tree and hit the windshield with a tiny but audible "pock!" Two words entered my mind: "Look up!" I knew that I shouldn't take the words literally—since I was driving—but I turned off the radio, and gave my anxiety to the Lord.
Unlike the Apostle John, I didn't look and see a throne with one sitting on it (Revelation 4:2), but I received an invitation to look beyond my circumstances, consider Jesus and his reality, and invite him to change my heart.
Please take a moment and "Look Up." Is Jesus inviting you to see him in a different way? Is he calling you to do something new? Two weeks ago, Eddie Gonzales exhorted us from Matthew 9: "When your doctor sits on the throne of the universe, and has the keys to death and hades, you don't have to take a number. There's no need to wait in line. If you have a burden, take it to Jesus...today!"
